Damn those Swedes give a fig.. it's too cold.
This is so awesome to find! My great grandfather's cousin, Mark Light from Lebanon PA, won this race 🏁
Malaise. Let it serve as a warning to society.
I have the same car but in white. Would have loved that green or another color! Beautiful car!! They are a dream to drive
This is later than 1945 judging by vehicles in parade. 1946,47?
I'd say that the 70's were more of the "Golden Age of Motor Racing" now.
Beautiful car
Love the drivers wearing shirts and ties, wonderful series.
A lot of these jobs look very dangerous. I wonder how many workers were maimed or killed every year in these early years of automobile production and how many workers died early deaths later as a result of illnesses and diseases contracted while on the job? Thank god for health and safety regulations, labour laws and unions that we w have now!
A mustang without horsepower. Interesting concept
"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting," Gilles Villeneuve
Is there any info on assembly of a 1917 H-E-T car ? I saw one for sale, but it was a basket case and everyone who has ever done a project like this is in for a lot of aggravation since you have no idea what it should look like or where all the parts are that you need in the moment of assembly. Lots of stopping to get parts and waiting..... thanks
My dad had a brown 1974 Mustang 2 notch back V6. Was given to him in the early 1980’s as his first car. He graduated high school in 1983 and he kept the car until late 1999. I was only 3 years old at the time he got rid of it but this video definitely brings back memories of it and my early childhood.
Narrated by Rock Hudson
Easily seats 40 adults
LOVE the body style reminds me of the 67 monaco..does this have the 383????
Holy smokes.
I love these videos! Thanks so much for sharing them. At 37:41 the first car starting up the hill smokes quite a bit while the second one does not. Maybe some inconsistent quality control in the piston, ring pack, or bore finishing. Smoke under higher load points to piston sealing while smoke under vacuum indicates valve guide leakage.
ABC SPORTS was there. The footage EXISTS and is out there….somewhere. I just now learned this fact after watching newly posted 65’ Firecracker 400, which, along with MANY abc sport old nascar races…has JUST BEEN POSTED!
Beautiful scan comparisons!!
And, I was there also...4th turn grandstand about half way up. Saw the spins of Mosley and Vuckovich, Jr. with the car hits of, I think, Rutherford and McElreath. I was pulling for Foyt, Andretti and Al Unser. I didn't think the Lotus turbines had the power as the turbo Fords and Offenhausers did but they had the sleek looks. I still think, had Jim Clark been in the "500", there might have been the win for the turbine powered Lotus...even, British F-1 upcoming driver, Mike Spence, had he as well as Clark not have been killed in racing...the "500" victory that the Granatelli brothers had been seeking for years would have come because of Clark's enormous talent; at least, a second or third place would have done wonders.
That was fantastic. Long live the Gear Heads !😊
wow
The EM-50
Easily one of the most useful, fascinating, and well produced DIY videos I’ve ever seen. Thanks so much!
Those are the real sports cars. The way theyre flying and bouncing up that hill, it looks more like a rally . Surprised not to see any TR3's or Bugeyes . The digital scanning made the 8mm real sharp !
It's a land yacht. Do you still have it?
Ahh the muddy days! What fun!
Wow Thank you so much for this upload Travis
If only we could get a pinch of that purity back into modern F1...
Monza 🔥❤
I like the 1955 🇨🇦Pontiac much more 😊
👍👏😊♥️🇺🇸
👍👏😊♥️🇺🇸
That's a long commercial, but i like it! ❤ And after a long trip, you could lay down and sleep in the back. Try that with a modern car!
I was only 12 when this commercial came out. I always wanted my dad to get one of these but he never did. I now have a 2020 Continental of my own but I'd love to have had the opportunity to buy one of these. The classiest car on the road at that time
1945 and France was already hosting races. It's no different today. Look at COVID when lockdowns finally lifted. Tracks opened immediately. People just want to get on with life. I surved Hurricane Katrina and again we all got on with it as soon as humanly possible. This is truly great. So happy to see this film preserved. They used to play these in theaters.
all life comes from the box and the ball
I was there back in 68 I loved the race!
I would like to see a new stock chevy 1500 with independent front suspension, cv axels attempt that.
The Stanley Mountain Wagon seen at 2:30 is in the collection at the Marshall Steam Museum in Yorklyn, DE. You can ride it when they are open to the public on Steamin' Days June-Nov every year.
Balbo was not a Marshall but the governor of Libya , he constructed the costal road called via Balbia, Mussolini sent him in Libya to get rid of him, he was a mason and a spy, eventually the Italians shoot him down with his aeroplane with out insignia, the general with the beard was another traitor, he told his soldiers that they where to be prisoners the next day instead of making them fight, they called him electric beard.
Simca cars had fiat parts and engine .
The director Bill Mason is dad of tedious band drummer and Ferrari collector Nick Mason!
is he now . . . . .
Im almost do with my 35mm movie film scanner. Im thinking my budget to make 900 bucks. Most on the camera
Dodgy made in china now 🤷🏿♀️
GM had the 4×4 technology in 57 from building military trucks in world War 2 and Korea, not sure why ya didn't see more of them!!!
Was born 79 there moved out in 90s..great place growing up
Amazing footage from so long ago
The best boxy "male" car I've ever seen. Very organic design, no frills in the form of heaps of chrome, no fussy flourishes. Without roundness of the body, like children's toys. Without accordion wings, as if the car was flattened from the sides. At the same time, the front part does not look like a blunt one, the radiator grille has a wedge shape. There is a Soviet ZiL 117, but it looks "too heavy" in comparison with this car.
